Murphy’s Mission is a great insight into a capricious character

This book reminds me of why I love, in particular, lower league football. The PL may have changed the game, but eccentricity, success and mostly failure exist in the lower leagues. A well researched and written book that brought back memories of Colin Murphy and my team Southend in the 80s and 90s and in many ways how little has changed today. Murphy himself a fascinating character (if you like lower league football minutiae). Was he a genius, a capricious, disloyal employee or just a naughty little boy? Read it and decide.
